Video Dingbat Episode 2: Pivot
Episode 2 of Video Dingbat features the exciting Sydney band Pivot. There sound is very hard to define but I'd think of it as melodic post rock with a splash of IDM. The best way of course is to listen to it yourself. Pivot members Laurence Pike, Richard Pike, and Adrian Klumpes sit down to discuss topics such as the band's history and sound, managing their various side projects (such as acclaimed experimental trio Triosk), and last years J Award Nomination (that Wolfmother won). We also have some live footage from their March 3rd performance at The Rosemount Hotel in Perth, Western Australia. Special thanks to RTR FM who recorded who recorded the audio for that gig (check out their live stream or tune into FM 92.1 if you're in Perth). What are you waiting for? Click that nice picture there and get to it.
The video is formatted for iPod Video but should run perfectly fine on your computer provided you have the latest version of Quicktime, iTunes, VLC, Democracy. Pivot & The Break-Ups - But Now I Hate You
The first song there is title track off their debut album and you can order it from 78 Records. The second track is a collaboration with The Break-Ups and can be found on Meupe's 'Tea For Two' record (by it directly from Meupe). Dave Miller who is one half of The Break-Ups has now become a full time member of Pivot. You can also check out Pivot's myspace for songs and info. Nice work giving Pivot some love. Great to see an Aussie blog up and going.
Dear Proprietor Of This Blog,
You should mention to your audience that they can download James Kochalka's new hit song 'Hockey Monkey' in its entirety from his website (you know, by clicking on the e-card link). That song is so damn catchy. The people have a right to know!
Sincerly,

PS- Congrats on all the traffic! A-woooo.
